Having his hand in 22 vintages now Angus Vinden has seen and worked with the Hunter's ups and downs for quite some time, 2018 to him is the best vintage he's seen for Shiraz yet, a growing season that has given us beautiful ripe fruit and natural acidity which will build these wines in to something incredibly special. So what does he do? Release three single barrel Shiraz's from different aspects of the Howard family's Somerset vineyard, Eastern Facing, North Facing and Western Facing. His acute understanding of this vineyard shines through in each expression.
From the horse's mouth, "The Northern Slope was planted in 1968 on red-orange volcanic clay soils, over limestone. Row direction is E-W.
Perfect balance between the East & West, like velvet. Powerful yet restrained"
These truly will be wines to put down for quite some time and take full advantage of the journey it will take over coming years.
