Bryan Martin has carved out a name for the Canberra District, through both his work with Tim Kirk at Clonakilla and his Ravensworth estate. Whilst Clonakilla brought us unique classical representations of the region, Ravensworth was the dark horse, championing varietals with overlooked potential for the area and giving us a thrilling, exciting as hell idea of what we can expect to see from these lands that are still being vinously explored.
The Seven Months white blend on skins holds so true to this charge, it's a structured, intense wine of depth but of a manner that we've never seen before from the area. Blending Riesling, Gewurztraminer & Pinot Gris, sitting them on skins in Italian concrete for seven months and just letting them run wild and be their best selves. It's flying up in to the sky with this spicy, driven lift and then cradling you back down to earth with these savoury, umami personalities. God damn serious Orange wine.
