Steeped in tradition but a thoroughly modern product, Macchu Pisco is a labour of love from sisters Melanie and Lizzie Asher. Inspired by their grandmother, who used to sell pisco at a local bodega (and apparently still tastes every vintage before bottling!), they press only the robust Quebranta grape by foot and distill on a copper pot still, giving a smooth and fairly weighty spirit which retains the juiciness of the grapes. Peppery, grassy, citrussy and briney, we can't recommend this more highly as a gateway to the world of premium Pisco.
Of course this makes an incredible Pisco Sour, but sipping on ice is a wonderful experience as well.
