If we think back to the very early days of the Australian wine industry, Semillon was one of the handful of grapes that defined it. And whilst yes Hunter Valley Sem has slipped out of favour with many that does mean that we shouldn't remember why we fell in love with that grape in the first place. Charlotte Hardy has put her talents in to finding that love all over again for herself, giving Sem the chance to truly shine and the combination of her incredible talent and the lands of the Adelaide Hills has made that happen in spades, plus some more spades.
The LYLM Semillon is an incredibly gentle wine due to its incredibly gentle upbringing. Fermenting in barrel and sitting on its lees, Charlotte stirs it tentatively throughout its elevage, leaving us with a wine that, weirdly but wonderfully, is generous yet delicate, it's Adelaide Hills with a guidance to have some warmth left in it. It's a hug but liquid, but still a hug.
