The name Bandicoot Run exudes a feel of the gentler, more charming Australian estate names of times gone past, and that Peter Rabbit level charm doesn't stop with the writing on the bottle. Adriana and Al have been gifting us these smiling, loving little wines from West Gippsland off vines that they have raised on organics with every level of care and attention paid to their surrounding biome and environmental health. To the extent they have seen a local population of Southern Brown Bandicoots flourish in the area, leaving their running tracks visibly prominent between the vines.
Their 2019 Pinot Noir has seen such an incredibly delicate start to life, hand picked in the early, cool morning sooner on at vintage to maintain the fruit's acidity and bursting joy. The resulting fruit juice has led to a supple and bright expression, whilst still hugging you with a rounder fruit expression it leaves you with an invigorating little slap of acidity. Definitely check these guys out whilst it's around as they're not producing much wine at all at the moment.
