Jauma is a family business founded by James Erskine in 2010. Before leaving the hospitality industry James was awarded the Negotiants working with wine scholarship in 2008, Australian Gourmet Traveller Sommelier of the year 2008, Len Evans scholar 2008 and was chief judge of the Adelaide Review's Hot 100 wine show from 2010-2013.
With all of these amazing achievements and accolades gained in the wine industry, you would be forgiven for reading about this and feeling a little bit intimidated about drinking James' wines. However like his wines, James is extremely down to earth. The wines are thoughtful and serious while still being approachable and full of joy, which is a testament to his skill as a winemaker and a reflection of his character as a person.
The Fujisan Pet Nat is made from 100% Chenin Blanc grown on the sandy soils of Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. Its crunchy, bright and beautiful with a lovely concentration of green apple and quince. James' has advised that this vintage is particularly lively on the fizz front so open this nice and cold and be prepared for it to be a bit excited to get out of the bottle and into your glass. Opening it outside would be recommended and be ready for some fizzy festive times.
